Day 7 of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, held on Friday, 6 February 2026, brought together some of the most loved voices from cinema, music, theatre and literature, turning South Mumbai into a vibrant cultural hub once again.
The evening opened at Cama Hall with Celebrating Mumbai with Jhankaar Beats, a special reunion panel that revisited a film that beautifully captured the city’s pulse. Actors Rahul Bose, Sanjay Suri and Shayan Munshi came together with filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh and producer Rangita Pritish Nandy for a nostalgic and lively conversation. They shared stories from the sets, reflections on Mumbai, and memories that still connect deeply with audiences.
At YWCA International Centre, music took centre stage with Synthesizing Traditions, featuring renowned sarod player Anupam Shobhakar. Known for blending classical Indian roots with global influences, his performance created an immersive soundscape that bridged tradition and contemporary expression.
Theatre lovers headed to the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre (Main Auditorium) for a staging of the iconic play Ghashiram Kotwal. The production featured powerful performances by Sanjay Mishra and Santosh Juvekar, directed by Abhijeet Panse. With its sharp social commentary and dramatic intensity, the play once again proved why it remains one of Indian theatre’s most enduring and relevant works.
Closing the evening at the Elphinstone College Quadrangle was The Outsider book launch in the presence of actor and comedian Vir Das and author Rohini Ramnathan. The session was engaging and insightful, adding a strong literary note to a day that showcased Mumbai’s many creative expressions under the Kala Ghoda banner.
Northern Lights Experience Drew Massive Crowds
Meanwhile, the Black Dog Soda projection mapping experience at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya continued to draw huge crowds. Conceptualised by artist Arzan Khambatta, the installation recreated the magic of the Northern Lights in India. Visitors arrived in large numbers through the evening, many calling it one of the most visually stunning highlights of the festival. With the show running until the following day, the experience became a major crowd puller and a talking point across the festival circuit.
