Annorth AI Introduces the Student Experience Index: A Game Changer in Mental Health Questionnaires

Annorth AI has introduced the Student Experience Index (SEI), a first-of-its-kind, non-clinical and non-diagnostic mental health assessment tool for schools and colleges across India. SEI aims to bridge the gap between unawareness and meaningful action, helping students reflect on their inner state while giving institutions a clear view of how their students actually feel, think, and behave.

Founded by Dhruv Gupta, Annorth AI was built on a simple idea, “one cannot improve what one cannot measure.” While studying and working with schools, Dhruv noticed how most institutions only address mental health when it becomes visible, often too late. SEI was created to change that. “We don’t want to diagnose anyone,” he says. “We just want students to see where they stand before it gets worse.”

The Student Experience Index (SEI) is a short monthly reflection taken by students. It measures seven key areas of well-being: Cognitive Focus, Emotional Energy, Social Belonging, Academic Engagement, Behavioral Activation, Support Perception, and Routine Consistency. Together, these seven domains give a balanced picture of student life, without crossing into the clinical zone.

After students complete the reflection, Annorth’s AI engine processes their responses into over 200 anonymised data points. Each student receives a personal report with their SEI score, a breakdown across all seven areas, and simple suggestions to improve balance. Schools and colleges receive aggregated dashboards showing trends, like drops in motivation or belonging, so they can act early instead of reacting after a crisis.

Dhruv explains it in a simple way: “Think of it like a blood test for your mind. A blood test doesn’t diagnose you, it just tells you when something seems off. SEI works the same way for mental health.” This helps both students and institutions become aware early, without needing medical intervention.

The team behind Annorth AI is not made up of corporate experts. They are just a group of college students building something they wished existed when they needed it. In the team picture, you can see it clearly, no suits, no fancy office. 

Annorth AI is already in talks with several schools to bring SEI as a monthly check-in system. The platform ensures full anonymity while giving schools meaningful insights. With over 11 crore students in India’s education system, the potential for SEI is massive.
