Bruce Springsteen propped himself over Billy Joel’s piano to sing a two part harmony with The Piano Man, who was praising his 100th show at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
Joel told the fiery group he had a visitor coming in front of an audience who has won a Grammy, Oscar and Tony. Springsteen developed, astonishing the hot and aficionado group of onlookers, who uproariously cheered “BRUCE.”
“Congrats Billy on your 100th show,” Springsteen hollered.
“Prepared, Billy?” he asked, as Joel started to play while sitting at the piano.
Springsteen urged the group to cheer louder and after that sang “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” He hopped onto Joel’s piano — making it on his second attempt — and sat on it while Joel played and the piano gradually spun. Springsteen at that point shook his guitar for “Destined to Run.”
Joel, 69, and Springsteen, 68, embraced after their two-melody execution, and The Boss kissed Joel on his head as he strolled offstage.
