Capacit’e Infraprojects’ Managing Director Rahul Katyal Discusses the Company’s Journey, Innovations, and Future Growth in India’s Infrastructure Sector

1.What inspired the founding of Capacit’e Infraprojects, and how has the company evolved since its inception in 2012?

Capacit’e Infraprojects was founded with the vision of creating a reliable construction company that could handle large-scale, complex projects with precision and efficiency. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, I recognized the demand for a company that could consistently deliver quality projects on time. Since its inception in 2012, Capacit’e has grown significantly, expanding across various sectors—residential, commercial, institutional—and has a presence in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and beyond. We have built high-rise structures, hospitals, data centers, and more, establishing ourselves as a key player in India’s construction landscape.

2.How does Capacit’e ensure quality and safety in its construction projects?

Ensuring quality and safety is non-negotiable for us. We have stringent quality management processes in place, backed by ISO 9001:2015 certification. Our safety protocols are also ISO 45001:2018 certified, and we instill a safety-first culture across all our projects. Every site operates with a dedicated health, safety, and environment (HSE) team, and we have a strong set of safety principles that all employees and contractors must adhere to. Regular audits, on-site safety drills, and advanced equipment ensure that every project is executed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

3.Can you elaborate on the advanced construction technologies and techniques utilized by Capacit’e?

At Capacit’e, we constantly integrate cutting-edge technologies into our construction processes. From detailed construction program to finer points regarding the logistics planning, our team makes extensive use of technology that help us achieve the complex timelines, improve efficiency and also minimise wastages. One of the key technologies we use is Building Information Modeling (BIM), which enhances planning and reduces on-site errors. We also employ the latest formwork technologies including hydraulic auto climb system coupled with safety equipments, that not only improves speed, which speeds up project timelines and improves accuracy while minimizing human risk. Our slab cycles, like the 5-day cycle we achieved at TEN X Habitat, are examples of how advanced techniques coupled with planning, allow us to maintain high efficiency. These innovations, combined with a commitment to quality, have allowed us to deliver projects faster, safer, and at a lower cost.

4.What role does project management play in successfully executing large-scale infrastructure projects?

Project management is the backbone of successful project execution, especially on a large scale. It involves detailed planning, resource allocation, and coordination between multiple teams. At Capacit’e, we emphasize robust project management, utilizing tools like ERP systems and real-time monitoring to track progress and address challenges proactively. This allows us to ensure timely delivery and keep projects within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Good project management also ensures smooth communication between stakeholders, which is essential for the successful completion of complex infrastructure projects.

5.How does Capacit’e integrate sustainability and environmental stewardship into its construction practices?

Sustainability is a core part of our operations. We are ISO 14001:2015 certified for environmental management, and we continuously look for ways to minimize our environmental impact. We recycle water, reduce energy consumption on-site, and use eco-friendly materials wherever possible. For example, we have recycled over 153,000 KL of water to date. Our goal is to not only create sustainable structures but also to ensure that our construction methods support long-term environmental stewardship.

6.What strategies does Capacit’e employ to foster continuous training and development among its workforce?

Training and development are integral to our growth. We have conducted over 4,800 training programs, amounting to nearly 17,000 hours of learning for our employees. These programs cover everything from safety protocols to advanced construction techniques and the latest technologies. We believe that an informed and skilled workforce is key to maintaining high-quality standards, so we invest heavily in upskilling our team. This not only helps in personal development but also keeps our company at the cutting edge of the construction industry.

7.Looking ahead, what are the key growth areas or projects that Capacit’e is focusing on in the coming years?

Looking forward, we are focused on expanding the Data Centre construction portfolio, healthcare and institutional building portfolio, while maintaining our edge in residential and super high structure. These areas align with our expertise and commitment to building high-quality, future-ready infrastructure.
