Echoes of Heritage: Where Art Meets Culinary Tradition at Asha’s

Asha’s Restaurant and The PaintBrush Art Community came together on 30th November 2025 at Asha’s Restaurant in Wafi Mall, Dubai, transforming the venue into a vibrant cultural epicenter with the unveiling of “Echoes of Heritage.” The event presented a spectacular fusion of Emirati and Indian traditions through art, music, and dance, beautifully intertwined with the rich culinary experience that Asha’s is known for. Celebrated for its elegant interiors and soulful Indian cuisine, Asha’s reflects the passion of its founder, legendary singer Asha Bhonsle, whose deep love for food continues to inspire this globally renowned dining brand.

“Food is an art form, just like music,” Asha Bhonsle has often said—a sentiment echoed throughout the evening; She believes that every dish should tell a story—just like a song. Guests were treated to 21 international artists’ works, harmonizing with Asha’s warm, contemporary décor. The highlight was Sugat Priyadarshi’s live upside-down portrait of Asha Tai, revealed in a dramatic flourish.

Music and dance elevated the experience: Ahmed Al Hossani, WOW Award-winning Emirati classical singer, joined Dr. Romit Purohit for a heartfelt rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley. Kathak virtuoso Karuna Rathore mesmerized audiences with her performance to Asha Bhonsle’s iconic “In Ankhon Ki Masti Mein” from Umrao Jaan Movie. The evening also featured a panel discussion with distinguished guests, exploring how art fosters mental health and well-being. Chief Guest Ahmed Al Hossani graced the occasion, alongside Guests of Honor including Mrs. Kussum Dutta, Dr. Kirti Mohan & Pooja Marya, Mr. Muhammed Yusuf, Mr. Iftikhar Khan, Mr. Binod Kumar, and Mr. Amin & Mrs. Saima Suleiman.

Rajan Malik, Head of Asha’s Global Operations, shared: “This theme celebrates heritage through art and cuisine—two universal languages.” Sonal Purohit, CEO & Founder of The PaintBrush Art Community, added: “Echoes of Heritage is about connecting cultures and inspiring creativity.”

The participating artists were – Afshan Khan, Ahmed Al Awadhi (Rukni) (UAE),  Aisha Ismail, Azka Tahir (Pakistan), Deepa Bhargava, Deepa Bhargava, Dr Damanjit Kaur, Dr Sangeeta Parashar, Iram Parvez Habeeb, Kadambini Chaubey, Komal Jhala, Labiba Ferhat (Algeria), Nikita Neogy (New Zealand), Prabita Rajesh, Rashmi Parakkal,  Renuka Sanjeev, Sonal Purohit, Sonal purohit, Sugat Priyadarshi and Susmitha Dhruv. 

The evening concluded with a panel discussion on art’s role in mental well-being. The exhibition runs for 30 days from 1st December 2025, marking the start of an annual tradition at Asha’s. Echoes of Heritage shall now be a cult in making as a standalone feature at Asha’s each year.
