Songwriter Father John Misty is no more unusual to voicing his opinion.
Various tracks he’s discharged on Soundcloud since 2015’s widely praised I Love You, Honey Bear have hitched absurd subjects with politically charged lyrics (see: “Trump’s Private Pilot”), yet today he raised the stakes with the music video for his new tune “Pure Comedy.”
Railing against The Establishment, particularly Donald Trump, “Pure Comedy” sounds like an other universe rendition of “Boredin the U.S.A” and conveys a significant part of a similar message. It’s basically a piano song that constructs instrumentally over its six-minute runtime, from something witty and gnawing to a significantly human conclusion.
