From Isolation to Celebration – Adharica Foundation’s Historic Holi Fest for the Divya Drishti (Visually Impaired) in Mumbai

18-03-2025: The Adharica Foundation recently organized Mumbai’s first-ever Holi festival exclusively for Divya Drishti (visually impaired) individuals, creating a vibrant and inclusive celebration. This groundbreaking event featured organic colors, a rain dance, a DJ bash, pichkaris, and satvik food, ensuring a joyful and immersive experience for all participants. To prioritize safety, protective goggles were provided to attendees as they engaged in the festivities.

For many visually impaired individuals, Holi had previously been a festival experienced from afar—often limited to sending messages rather than participating firsthand. However, for the first time, they had the opportunity to celebrate on a grand scale, fostering a sense of community, joy, and belonging.

Participants expressed deep gratitude towards the Adharica Foundation, especially to its founder, Mr. Vinayak More, and his dedicated team members, Mr. Santosh Melekar, Mr. Pradeep Panchal, and Mr. Prasad More. Their collective efforts not only brought happiness but also underscored the importance of inclusivity in cultural celebrations. The event welcomed visually impaired participants from diverse walks of life—beggars, street hawkers, students, artists, sportspersons, and private/government employees—all uniting in Mumbai’s first-of-its-kind Holi festival.

Beyond the festivities, this event carried a deeper purpose: to raise awareness about the rights and capabilities of visually impaired individuals. By providing a space for them to engage in cultural celebrations, the Adharica Foundation reaffirmed its mission to empower marginalized communities and promote social inclusion.

This Holi festival was more than just a play of colors and music—it was a celebration of life, unity, and togetherness, leaving an unforgettable impact on everyone who attended.

The Adharica Foundation has a history of organizing meaningful initiatives, including Live/Karaoke orchestras, Dahi Handi celebrations for the visually impaired, and distribution drives for ration kits, umbrellas, and white canes for the blind.
