From Kadhi Samosa to Nashik Misal: Kadhiram Brings a Unique Breakfast Culture to Pune

Pune has a new food stop, and it puts kadhi in the centre of the plate. Kadhiram, started by Sachin Thenge and Mrs Shruti Thenge, is the first outlet in the city built around kadhi as a breakfast and snack choice. Instead of being a side dish, kadhi is now the main attraction. On the menu are items like Kadhi Samosa and Kadhi Misal, along with familiar favourites given a twist.

The idea, Sachin says, came from everyday observation. “People love strong, spicy food here — Misal, Poha, Vada. But kadhi is rarely seen in breakfast. We wanted to bring it in, keep it homely, simple and easy to enjoy,” he explains. That thought has already struck a chord with customers.

Kadhiram’s menu is wide without being complicated. There are over two dozen items, including Tarri Samosa, Authentic Nashik Misal, Kadhi Vada, Kadhi Kachori, Poha, Tarri Poha, and Dahi Samosa. Diners call it “familiar” and “comforting,” the kind of taste they expect from a neighbourhood stall but with consistency every time.

The response has pushed Kadhiram to look at growth. The brand is opening to franchise partners with models designed to be simple and affordable. A kiosk can start at ₹2–3 lakh, a food truck at ₹4–5 lakh, while larger shops and cafés begin at ₹10–14 lakh. Franchisees receive outlet setup, staff training, supply support, and help with marketing. A small but high-demand menu means fast service and steady sales.

Expansion will roll out in stages. Pune remains the base this year, with flagship and pilot outlets. By 2025–2026, Kadhiram plans to set up in Nashik, Kolhapur, Chh.Sambhajinagar, Nagpur and Mumbai suburbs. From 2026 onward, the aim is more than 100 outlets across Maharashtra, before moving to cities outside the state such as Indore, Ahmedabad and Bhopal.

Kadhiram’s mission is to make kadhi part of the morning routine across Maharashtra. Its goal is to become the go-to brand for snacks that are flavourful, reliable and easy on the pocket.

Founded in 2024, Kadhiram works on three clear ideas — consistency, affordability and taste. With kadhi at its core and Maharashtrian classics around it, the brand is set to grow one district at a time.
