Lata Mangeshkar Award Bestowed on Anuradha Paudwal; Master of Multiple Voices, Sudesh Bhosle Honored for His Singing at Maharashtra State Marathi Film Awards

In the grand tapestry of Maharashtra’s cultural heritage, where artistry meets the soul, the Maharashtra State Marathi Film Awards ceremony shines as a beacon of recognition and honor. This year, the awards celebrated not just films but the very essence of the state’s cultural vibrancy, weaving together the legacy of cinema with the melodious strains of music and the profound impact of voices that have shaped our cultural consciousness.

The evening was a symphony of accolades, beginning with the revered Lata Mangeshkar Award 2024, bestowed upon the illustrious Anuradha Paudwal, a voice that has been a constant companion to many through the decades. In her mellifluous journey, Paudwal’s voice has transcended time, much like the legendary Lata herself. As she stood holding the award that carries the name of her mentor and inspiration, the echoes of her songs felt as timeless as ever.

Rohini Hattangadi, another luminary in her own right, was honored with the State Cultural Award 2024 for her stellar contributions to cinema. Hattangadi, whose performances have left indelible marks on both stage and screen, embodies the spirit of Marathi theatre and film – a spirit that is both resilient and transformative.

At the heart of this celebration, a voice that has resonated through the annals of Indian cinema for decades was finally accorded its much-deserved honor. Sudesh Bhosle, the maestro who has mastered over multiple voices, and whose vocal prowess has breathed life into countless iconic characters, was bestowed with a prestigious award for his unparalleled contributions to vocal music. This is likely the first time that the master of voices has been awarded for his much-deserved “singing” skills.

The ceremony, held at the Dome SVP Stadium in Worli, was not just a celebration of individual achievements but a reflection of Maharashtra’s artistic grandeur. The event was graced by the state’s leading cultural and cinematic figures, including Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, who rightly noted that these awards represent the heartfelt appreciation of Maharashtra’s 130 million people.

Shivaji Satam, the venerable actor known for his iconic roles, was honored with the Chitrapati V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award 2023, a fitting recognition for a man whose performances have been as enduring as cinema itself. Asha Parekh, another legend of the silver screen, received the Late Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award 2023, while filmmaker N. Chandra was bestowed with the Late Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award 2023, both acknowledgments of their immense contributions to Indian cinema.

The awards also recognized the best in Marathi cinema, celebrating filmmakers, actors, and writers who continue to push the boundaries of storytelling. The 58th and 59th State Marathi Film Awards were a testament to the vibrant creativity that defines the industry, honoring talents in categories ranging from Best Story and Screenplay to Best Actor and Actress.
