Amazon TV’s Lord of the Ring series could potentially focus on the King of Gondor’s early years in Middle-Earth. It’s been no secret that Amazon has been working on a Lord of the Rings TV series. The biggest news on the project was that it would cost around $1 billion to produce, making it one of the most expensive television shows ever made. Now, the most recent discussion on the television adaptation from J.R.R. Tolkien’s works is that the series could potentially focus on a young Aragorn.
The rumor started from a tweet from Tolkien fan-site, theonering.net, stating that they were able to confirm from sources that Amazon plans to focus the show on Aragorn’s younger years. The remaining thread on their twitter page also claims the show will not be a retelling of the War of the Ring but will instead focus on the Appendices from the books. The Appendices were peppered throughout the original trilogy, with most of them appearing in The Return of the King, and contained some history on Middle-Earth as well as character backstories.
