Luxury Weddings Are Going Green—Here’s How the Industry is Embracing Sustainability

New Delhi, [India] March 17, 2025: The luxury wedding industry in Delhi-NCR and North India is undergoing a green transformation, with high-end weddings integrating sustainable practices to cater to environmentally conscious couples. This shift aligns with the growing demand for lavish yet eco-friendly celebrations, making sustainability a defining trend in the market.

India’s $130 billion wedding industry is witnessing a 25% growth this fiscal year, with North India—including Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh—accounting for 40-50% of this market share. The rising trend of ultra-luxury weddings, where families invest heavily to create personalized, high-impact experiences, is driving this surge.

A recent industry report reveals:

  • The average wedding budget in 2024 is ₹36.5 lakh, while destination weddings average ₹51.1 lakh.
  • 9% of weddings exceed ₹1 crore, reinforcing the demand for opulence and grandeur.
  • 52% of couples are integrating eco-conscious choices such as donating excess food, eliminating plastic waste, and choosing green décor.
  • 45.5% are opting for lab-grown diamonds, reflecting a shift towards ethical and environmentally friendly luxury.

The rise of zero-waste weddings is reshaping the industry. Couples are opting for recycled paper invitations, dried flower décor, solar-powered lighting, and sustainable wedding favors, ensuring that their celebrations are both opulent and environmentally responsible. The trend is not just about aesthetics but impact. Industry leaders are rethinking traditional wedding experiences, ensuring sustainability without compromising on grandeur.

Despite the shift towards sustainability, the demand for luxury wedding venues in Delhi-NCR continues to outstrip supply. The surge in extravagant weddings has created a scarcity of premium venues, especially during peak seasons, leading to overbooked schedules and rising costs. This venue crunch calls for infrastructure expansion and innovative solutions to cater to elite clientele seeking bespoke, high-end, and sustainable wedding experiences.

“The modern couple seeks a wedding that is both luxurious and responsible. At The Grandreams, we integrate eco-friendly practices into grand celebrations—because sustainability and opulence are no longer mutually exclusive. We are redefining what it means to host a truly grand wedding in Delhi-NCR and North India,” said Rahul Arora, Director of The Grandreams, A Luxurious Wedding Venue located in Nehru Place, New Delhi.

The luxury wedding industry in Delhi-NCR and North India is at an inflection point, balancing grandeur with sustainability. With couples demanding eco-conscious luxury, the industry must adapt, innovate, and invest in sustainable solutions to shape the future of high-end weddings.
