The iconic actress, who notched up yet another Academy Award nomination this year – this time for her role in Steven Spielberg’s The Post – fired the imaginations of the folks at home watching the ceremony thanks to her choice of outfit. She certainly looked Oscars-friendly in her scarlet belted Dior dress, with her hair swept into an updo – except people couldn’t help but notice that, in her red carpet garb, she bore more than a passing resemblance to Shrek’s fairy godmother. And so a social media phenomenon was born.
