NTR District, Andhra Pradesh: The APFA State-Level Football Tournament officially began on Monday at the Lakireddy Hanimi Reddy Sports Ground in Mylavaram. The prestigious event was inaugurated by MLA Vasantha Venkata Krishna Prasad and KDCCB Chairman Nettem Raghurama, who hoisted the national flag, marking the commencement of high-intensity football action in the region.
Addressing the audience during the inauguration, MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad emphasized the Andhra Pradesh Government’s ongoing initiatives to promote sports and encourage young talent. He expressed his delight over Mylavaram being chosen as the host city for this tournament and extended best wishes to all participating athletes.
“Football is not just a sport but a way to channel youth energy into productive and disciplined endeavors,” said MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad.
APFA President and former MP Kotagiri Sridhar introduced the “32 Stars” program, an intensive training initiative identifying 32 promising football players. These players have undergone rigorous coaching for the past three months, with plans for continued professional guidance for the next three years in partnership with LBRC.
Kotagiri Sridhar also highlighted the association’s focus on nutrition, providing players with high-quality protein-rich meals to improve performance on the field.
As part of the state-level football calendar, the DA League 2025–26 will run concurrently, offering competitive matches among top regional clubs. The league matches are scheduled at Lakki Reddy Bala Reddy Engineering College, Mylavaram, and feature the following participating teams:
