In a new memoir called “The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince,” Mayte Garcia, Prince’s ex-wife, talks about their son who was born in 1996 with a rare genetic disorder, Pfeiffer syndrome type 2, and died just six days later. Garcia said Prince never got over the toddler’s death, according to the memoir, set to release April 4.
“I don’t think he ever got over it,” Garcia told People magazine while talking about her late ex-husband. “I don’t know how anybody can get over it. I know I haven’t,” she added. This week’s issue of the magazine published some excerpts from Garcia’s memoir, in which she wrote about her marriage and their son’s tragic death.
Garcia, a dancer and now 43, describes in her memoir how excited Prince was after learning she was pregnant. The couple was delighted about raising a family together. They got married in 1996 and divorced in 2000. They named their baby boy Amiir which is the Arabic for the word “prince.”
