Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi celebrates Swami Vivekananda’s 163rd Birth Anniversary with National Youth Day Festivities

New Delhi, January 13th, 2025: The Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, came alive with a vibrant celebration of Swami Vivekananda’s 163rd birth anniversary which was commemorated as National Youth Day. Held at the Vivekananda Auditorium of the center, the event honoredand celebrated the timeless ideals of the great visionary and monk of India, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of hundreds of devotees and admirers.

The day served as a reminder of Swami ji’s ideals and contributions to the nation, particularly his work in empowering the youth of India. National Youth Day 2025 was a special occasion to reflect on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, his vision for India, and the impact of his philosophy on the youth.

The ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries which included Ramen Deka, Governor of Chhattisgarh; Swami Sarvalokananda, Secretary of the RK Mission, New Delhi; Member of Parliament Bansari Swaraj; Attorney General of India R. Venkataramani; Dr. Vikram Singh, IPS and former DGP of Uttar Pradesh; and Ashutosh Agnihotri, IAS, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, among others. 

In heartfelt speeches, the dignitaries highlighted the profound relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings in today’s world. They urged the youth to cultivate virtues such as fearlessness, honesty, and purity of heart—qualities essential for both personal transformation and societal progress. “Swami Vivekananda’s life and message are a guiding light, reminding us of the strength that lies in character and selflessness,” said Bansuri Swaraj.

Attorney General R. Venkataramani emphasized the power of spirituality, truth and fearlessness in addressing modern challenges, while Swami Sarvalokananda reflected on Vivekananda’s vision of youth as catalysts for change.

Swami Sarvalokananda is a senior monk of The Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, which is a global spiritual organization which has been spreading the message of Peace, Harmony, Friendship, Brotherhood and Universal Tolerance and Acceptance all over the world for more than hundred years.

Swami Sarvalokananda embraced monastic life, joining the Holy Order at its Kankhal, Haridwar, India Branch way back in 1973 where he served for 12 years where he was deeply involved in spiritual practice and the Medical Service of the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital.

The celebrations on Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary also featured soulful devotional songs, engaging speeches by the dignitaries and an interactive Q&A session that delved into Vivekananda’s philosophy of universal brotherhood and spiritual awakening. Attendees, especially the youth, were inspired to imbibe Swami ji’s values and strive for a harmonious and compassionate world.

The event served as a special reminder of Swami Vivekananda’s enduring legacy, motivating young minds to channel their energy toward building a brighter, more unified nation.
