Abe Vigoda, the sad-faced celebrity of Francis Coppola’s classic movie The Godfather, passed away on Tuesday,his administrator informed AFP. He was 94.
The actor passed away at the home of his daughter,Carol Vigoda Fuchs,in New Jersey.
“She went to get him something to drink and when she came back he was gone,” said manager Sid Craig, who represented him for decades.
Mr Vigoda obviously passed away of old age.
“He didn’t seem particularly sick or tired. I don t think he was ever sick,” Mr Craig added.
Mr Vigoda was born in New York to Russian Jewish immigrant parents.His father was a tailor.
The actor cut his teeth on Broadway. But probably his biggest on-screen effect came when Mr Vigoda performed sunken-eyed mafioso Sal Tessio in The Godfather.
He was also well-known for enjoying investigator Phil Fish on tv’s Barney Miller.The character was so well-known it was unique off into its own sequence, Fish.
In his final decades, the twice-married Mr Vigoda was incorrectly revealed to have passed away on several events, becoming a social media joke.
