Vidyashilp University Integrates Music Therapy into Law Curriculum with Special Guru Purnima Session Led by Anubhuti Goswami

Bengaluru, July 14, 2025 :In a unique initiative to promote holistic learning and mental well-being, Vidyashilp University’s School of Legal Studies and Governance, in collaboration with the School of Liberal Arts, hosted a special Guru Purnima session titled “Melodic Sound Healing & The Power of Music in Teaching.” The experiential event was led by renowned Music Therapist and Indian Classical Vocalist Ms. Anubhuti Kakoty Goswami, alongside Handpan Artist and Sound Practitioner Mr. Emon Goswami.

Organised by the School of Legal Studies and Governance, in collaboration with the School of Liberal Arts, this special session emphasized the transformative role of music and sound in enhancing mindfulness, teaching effectiveness, and emotional wellness.

Anubhuti Goswami, a well-known Indian Classical Vocalist, Music Healer, and Wellness Coach, has been widely appreciated for her unique therapeutic approach combining ancient Indian ragas with sound healing techniques. During the session, she introduced students and faculty to the art of crystal bowl healing and the nuances of voice modulation for inner alignment.

Anubhuti Goswami, who has worked extensively in the space of music therapy and emotional wellness, demonstrated the use of crystal bowls and vocal resonance as tools to bring mental clarity and emotional balance. Emon Goswami’s meditative handpan performance further enhanced the sensory experience, helping the audience tune into a deeper state of mindfulness.

What made the session particularly significant was its role in underlining the growing importance of mental wellness and stress management within legal education. With law students often facing intense academic pressure, the School of Legal Studies and Governance is now exploring ways to include music therapy and mindfulness practices as part of its academic schedule. This marks a progressive step toward nurturing emotionally resilient and holistically balanced legal professionals.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Amlanika Bora and Dr. Sohinee Ganguly, who emphasized that such interdisciplinary interventions are vital for preparing students not just for the courtroom, but for life.

The session beautifully highlighted how music therapy can be a powerful tool for enhancing holistic well-being and mental wellness. By engaging the senses and calming the mind, sound-based practices like these help reduce stress, improve emotional balance, and create a sense of inner harmony—benefits that are increasingly relevant in today’s fast-paced academic and professional environments.
