Founder of Abyom SpaceTech and Defence: Jainul Abedin receive Karmaveer Chakra in the field of rocketry

On the occasion of Celebrating the Constitution Day of India. Jainul Abedin was honoured with the auspicious Karmaveer Chakra Bronze and Global REX Global Fellowship for his excellence in leading the aerospace industry.

Jainul is 24 years old and is the Founder & CEO of Abyom SpaceTech and Defence Pvt. Ltd. which is building reusable rockets capable of being used up to 25 times. Jainul wants to bring India in the league of Indigenous Reusable Rockets starting from propulsion systems to control systems and navigation. His thirst does not stop there, he wants to give access to the youth to develop, and test their rocket engine and related components. Both, resulting in his series of rockets called RSR, SRLV and MRLV and the program CIEST.

Jainul started his journey back in 2016 when he was a 16-year-old child who looked up into the night sky and wondered why can’t we reach there and why rocket science is a big deal. That was the moment he decided to jump into the field of rocketry.

With over four years of experience in the space sector, Jainul Abedin is one of the youngest SpaceTech entrepreneurs, leading groundbreaking innovations in reusable rocket technology. At just 16, he conceived the idea of developing India’s first reusable rocket, and by 19, founded Abyom SpaceTech and Defence Pvt. Ltd. in 2020 while pursuing his Bachelor’s in Pure Sciences from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University.

Jainul’s scientific contributions and his Team include over 25 published research papers and a patent on space innovation, focusing on RLV landing mechanisms, propellant advancements, and nozzle flow separation. Jainul has authored over 5+ research papers, and holds 3 patents, His achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including the Chief Minister’s Award of Uttar Pradesh, Youngest Innovator of the Year, and Youngest Entrepreneur of the Year.

Under Jainul’s leadership, Abyom has grown into a pioneering space organization, establishing India’s first commercial rocket engine testing facility in Hyderabad and successfully conducting over 150 engine tests. The company has gained global recognition, being featured among the Top 20 Global SpaceTech Startups to Watch by Startus Insights and the Top 30 Startups to Watch by INC42.

He has actively collaborated with global scientists, through over 45 national and international webinars and conferences. His commitment to advancing space technology has been recognized by institutions like DST, Boeing, IIT Delhi, and IISc Bangalore. Recently, under Jainul’s leadership Abyom was selected for the prestigious 2024 CDL Cohort as one of the Top 40 startups globally and was named among the Forbes Select 200 Companies with Global Business Potential-2024.
