I want to tell you about something I have been carrying for a long time.
Not a business idea. Not a content strategy. Something closer to a conviction, the kind that does not leave you alone no matter how many other things you fill your life with. The kind that keeps showing up in the margins of everything else you are doing, tapping you on the shoulder, asking if you are ready yet.
I am ready now.
In the coming weeks, I am launching a YouTube series called The Thread We Missed: The King and His Kingdom. Four seasons. Forty-five episodes. One King. And I want to explain why this project exists, because the reason matters as much as the content itself.
What I Have Watched Happen to the Bible
I have spent more than two decades in ministry, youth development, mentorship, and community work. In that time, I have watched the most read book in the world get used in almost every way imaginable except the one I believe it was actually written for. I have watched it weaponized to divide people. I have watched it reduced to a self-help manual. I have watched it taught in fragments, passage by passage, topic by topic, in ways that produce information without producing transformation. I have watched entire communities built around particular interpretations of it while the people most consistently centered in its pages, the widow, the orphan, the foreigner, the poor, the overlooked, the forgotten, remain on the outside looking in.
I do not say this to be critical of any particular tradition or institution. I say it because I lived inside this reality for years without fully seeing it, and when I finally saw it clearly, I could not unsee it.
The thread running through the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is not primarily about a set of beliefs to hold or a system to belong to. It is about a King. And wherever that King shows up, in the Old Testament law, in the Psalms, in the prophets, in the life and teaching of Jesus, in the Spirit-empowered community of Acts, in the closing vision of Revelation, the same thing keeps happening. The vulnerable are remembered. Outsiders become family. Enemies become neighbors. Dignity is restored to people the world had written off. The thread was never about the poor as a category. It was about the King as a person, and what happens to communities when they actually come under His reign.
That thread runs from the first page to the last, and somehow, across centuries of reading, teaching, and building entire institutions around this book, we missed it.
Why a Documentary and Not a Sermon Series
I want to be precise about what this project is not. It is not a sermon series. It is not a lecture. It is not a theological argument dressed up in video production. I have spent enough time in religious spaces to know that the format in which you present something shapes how it is received, and a format that communicates from above, one person with answers delivering them to people who sit quietly and receive, is not the format this story deserves.
This story deserves investigation.
Think of it as a documentary on a King. We are not arriving with conclusions already settled, waiting to confirm what people already believe. We are inviting people to look at something together, to follow a thread across four seasons of Scripture and see where it actually leads, and to ask themselves what it would mean if the Bible they thought they knew turned out to be telling a different, larger, more hopeful story than the version they were handed.
Season One traces the kingdom through the Old Testament, from humanity bearing God’s image to the Law’s consistent protection of those the world most easily ignores. Season Two introduces Jesus as the fullest expression of everything that had been promised, a King who does not just announce the kingdom but embodies it in every relationship, every parable, every encounter with someone the religious system had excluded. Season Three explores what it actually looks like to live under this King’s reign, how it quietly overturns everything we think we know about power, status, greatness, and belonging. Season Four follows the early church as the King’s life becomes visible through His people, and closes with Revelation’s image of God dwelling fully with humanity, creation restored, and the kingdom completely realized.
Forty-five episodes. One thread. One King.
What I Am Actually Hoping For
If the Bible is the most read book in the world, then helping people understand and comprehend its true meaning is one of the most significant services anyone could offer. Love, justice, mercy, humility. These are not peripheral themes the Bible touches on occasionally. They are the heartbeat of the entire story, and they have been buried under centuries of fragmentation, division, and teaching that prioritized systems over people.
I am not naive enough to think a YouTube series changes all of that. But I have spent a lifetime believing that when you show someone something true, really show it to them, clearly enough that they can actually see it, it changes what they do next. That is what I am hoping for here. Not that people finish this series with a new set of facts about Scripture, but that they finish it seeing the King differently. And that seeing Him differently begins to change how they see the people around them.
This is my dream project. I have worked on many things I am proud of, but this one carries a different kind of weight. Not because it is the most strategic or the most commercially sensible thing I could be doing with my time. Because it is the most honest answer I have to the question I have been asking myself for years: if you actually believe what you say you believe about this King, what are you going to do with it?
This is what I am going to do with it.
