‘Dance Moms’ star Abby Lee Miller sentenced to 1 year, 1 day in prison

Reality TV star Abby Lee Miller was sentenced Tuesday to a year and a day in government jail for hiding resources from U.S. chapter 11 court and to sneaking money into the U.S. after move guideline excursions to Australia.

U.S. Locale Judge Joy Flowers Conti told Ms. Mill operator, 50, initially from Penn Hills and the previous star of the TV program “Dance Moms,” that she felt constrained to send her to jail instead of give her the probation term she needed. The judge said the sentence mirrors a need to uphold regard for the chapter 11 handle and the law.

“Somehow you got caught up in this world of fame and got sidetracked,” the judge said, “and you lost your moral compass.”

In tending to the court before an exhibition pressed with supporters, Ms. Mill operator cried as she related every one of her travails in attempting to spare her Penn Hills move studio and her sudden ascent to distinction on “Move Moms.”

“I am very sorry for what I’ve done,” she said. “I can only assure you that I will never be before a criminal court again.”
