Mange Ram Chauhan, Deputy Collector, Bijnor got Doctorate Award from World Book of Records

SDM Nagina Maange Ram Chauhan Ji was awarded the Honorary Doctorate by the World Book of Records for working on the idea of environmental conservation. The “Chauhan Model” started in Amroha district is an excellent and innovative effort to promote environmental conservation and social responsibility. Its main efforts and results are as follows:

Major initiatives of Chauhan Model:

1. Plantation campaign with responsibility:

The accused arrested under Section 151 of CrPC were given the responsibility of planting five trees each, and their sureties were directed to plant one tree each.

The process of plantation was recorded in the register in the Tehsil office and a condition of submitting photos was laid down.

2. Hariyali Abhiyan with public cooperation:

Under this campaign, more than 20,000 saplings were planted with public cooperation without any government expenditure.

Pictures of messages of planting trees and water conservation were made on the walls of the Tehsil office to inspire people towards environmental conservation.

3. Appointment of Environment Sentinels:

More than 1,000 people interested in social service were enrolled as “Environment Sentinels”.

They were given the responsibility of planting trees and conserving water at their own expense.

4. Organizing rallies and awareness campaigns:

Rallies and seminars were organized in schools, gurudwaras and villages.

People were made aware of the indiscriminate use of water and the decline in groundwater level.

5. Involvement of ration vendors:

Government ration vendors were instructed to maintain a “Plantation and Water Conservation Register”.

They administered an oath to their customers to plant trees and conserve water.

6. Vriksha Suraksha Bandhan Yojana:

Villagers were given the responsibility of 5 plants each to take care of the plants planted by the government.

Villagers tied Raksha Sutra to the plants and took an oath to protect them.

7. Saving of paper in the grievance redressal process:

The need for application forms was eliminated by maintaining a complaint register at the Gram Panchayat level.  Digital medium (WhatsApp) was used to resolve issues.

More than 26,000 sheets of paper were saved in the process, thereby reducing felling of trees.
This is a wonderful initiative towards environmental protection and water conservation. This moment has been honored by the World Book of Records.
