The Board of Directors of the Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council (UNAccc) held a midnight emergency meeting to address the alarming pollution and child disability crisis in Singrauli, India’s “Energy Capital”. Former bureaucrats, including IAS Ajay Mishra ( Fmr Spl Chief Secretary -Telangana and National Chairman of UNAccc, IPS Anil Pratham, and IPS Rahul Sur, expressed deep concern over the situation.
Bureaucrat and Environmentalist. Shishir Pandit, UNAccc’s Madhya Pradesh State Chair, presented the dire situation, highlighting the severe impact on children’s health. The meeting decided to send a delegation to survey the area and submit a report to UNAccc Vice Chair Shrikant Panagrihi, (a member of the Prime Minister’s Climate Change Committee.) , Fmr bureaucrats Dr. Mohan Singh Sudan, Ms. Gauri Advani UNAccc UK Chair Person and Solicitor (Doughter in Law of Shri Lal Krishna Advani Fmr Dy PM of India) IPS M K Tandon Together.
The Alarming Situation:
Singrauli’s pollution has led to widespread skeletal fluorosis, mercury poisoning, and respiratory issues in children. The region’s Comprehensive Environmental Pollution Index (CEPI) score exceeds 81, indicating critical pollution levels ¹ ² ³.

Dr. Rajat Sharma, UNAccc Founder President, stated, “Since the 1960s, the situation has been like this… But when UNAccc came to know about this, we decided to bring about a change. We are confident that the situation will definitely change.”
